The Associate Director of Clinical Nursing Services will oversee clinical operations on a system-wide basis, providing leadership in professional nursing practices and ensuring competency across all nursing staff within Texas Health Action services. This pivotal role will guide clinical direction, uphold nursing practice standards, and offer escalation support across various operational settings while maintaining existing operational reporting structures.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Clinic Administrators and Clinical Operations leadership to support nurse staffing models and deployment, ensuring safe and effective clinic operations.
- Partner with operational managers and the Patient Access Nurse Manager to ensure sufficient nurse staffing for clinical services.
- Act as the direct clinical supervisor for both clinic-based and outreach nursing staff, holding authority over nursing practice standards, clinical competency validation, delegation, and performance remediation.
- Facilitate regular nurse team meetings to foster team building, professional growth, and communication.
- Perform direct and indirect patient care nursing tasks as staffing needs dictate, with direct care being secondary to leadership duties.
- Coordinate initial and ongoing clinical competency validation for nursing staff in collaboration with the Clinical Education Manager, encompassing documentation of clinical skills, delegation competencies, and role-specific requirements across clinics and outreach programs.
Clinical Practice Oversight
- Maintain clinical credibility through observation and direct patient care as necessary.
- Ensure adherence to Texas nursing scope of practice requirements for RNs, LVNs, and MAs.
- Keep clinical competencies up to date through direct-care observation and practice within clinics, serving as the primary clinical escalation point for nursing-related issues.
