Are you passionate about ecology and eager to make a significant impact on the environment? Join our innovative Nature team at AECOM as an Associate Director of Ecology. This role is based in our UK and Ireland offices, including Manchester, Leeds, Basingstoke, Newcastle, Glasgow, Cambridge, Nottingham, and Liverpool, with flexibility for other locations across the UK.
Our Nature team is engaged in a diverse array of projects, spanning large-scale infrastructure in energy, water, renewables, defence, and transport sectors, as well as managing smaller, local initiatives. We also collaborate on National and International projects that enhance the ecological landscape.
In this role, you will have the chance to utilize cutting-edge survey techniques for species and habitat assessments, contribute to data capture and reporting, and manage projects, including Habitats Regulations Assessments and Biodiversity Net Gain initiatives. Our supportive culture fosters both internal and external training opportunities within a dynamic mentorship framework.
Your Responsibilities:
- Oversee the planning and execution of ecological contributions for both internal and external clients;
- Prepare and technically assess a variety of ecological evaluations including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Protected Species Baseline Reports, Ecological Impact Assessments, Habitats Regulations Assessments, and Biodiversity Net Gain Calculations;
- Deliver technical guidance to ensure effective and practical solutions;
- Facilitate consultations and interactions with clients, planning authorities, statutory bodies, and the public;
- Contribute to the growth of our technical expertise and promote innovation and research;
- Lead the creation of bids and tenders for ecological services;
- Mentor and support junior staff and peers within the ecology team.
