Are You Ready to Challenge the Status Quo?Here’s What We Are Looking For:Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or a related field.Professional chartered membership with CIWEM or ICE.Extensive experience in leading teams in the preparation of flood risk assessments and/or flood risk activity permits.Proven track record in project management, adhering to the principles of the NEC suite of contracts.Experience and understanding of hydraulic modelling as a foundation for flood risk assessments and activity permits.Knowledge of FCERM appraisal, water cycle studies, and water framework directive assessments is advantageous but not mandatory.You should also be self-motivated, capable of working independently when necessary, with a strong commitment, eagerness to learn, and a desire to thrive in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.

Join our vibrant and multidisciplinary Water Team as an Associate Flood Risk Consultant within the Regulations and Development sector. In this role, you will take on a technical leadership position, managing the creation of essential flood risk consenting documentation for our prestigious clients. You will become part of one of our rapidly expanding UK offices while benefiting from our flexible hybrid work model.

Our team is a close-knit unit composed of consultants, engineers, technicians, hydrologists, hydraulic modellers, and project managers. We are committed to providing our personnel with development opportunities, whether that entails a secondment to gain client insight, an assignment on-site to oversee a construction contract, or offering training to support your professional growth.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver: Lead and validate the creation of documents including flood risk assessments, strategic flood risk assessments, flood risk activity permits, Section 19 reports, and water resource chapters of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs).
  • Expertise: Provide leadership in the preparation of tenders for complex and high-profile projects, including nationally significant infrastructure initiatives.
  • Collaborate: Foster strong relationships with clients and technical teams to ensure successful delivery of a variety of flood risk management projects, including fluvial, coastal, surface water, and drainage.
  • Quality: Stay informed on legislative developments and guidelines impacting our services, utilizing AECOM’s project management systems to ensure high-quality outputs are delivered to clients within the stipulated timelines and budget.
  • Lead: Mentor team members to encourage their professional development.
