The Associate Managing Editor plays a critical role in delivering high-quality editorial services for various accounts within our esteemed healthcare agency. This position involves overseeing the editorial process for pharmaceutical marketing materials, which includes medical editing, fact-checking, preparing submissions, and reviewing both internal and client changes. The ideal candidate will excel at managing multiple time-sensitive projects, demonstrate independence, and possess a meticulous attention to detail, alongside strong verbal and written communication skills.
As a leader within the editorial team, the Associate Managing Editor will act as a guiding editorial voice across departments. Responsibilities include direct management of Senior Medical Editors, Medical Editors, and Associate Medical Editors, providing them with constructive feedback, guidance, and coaching to facilitate their professional growth. Adherence to internal agency processes and the enforcement of best editorial practices are paramount. Upholding the Precision Guiding Principles of Accountability, Mutual Respect, Client Service, Collaboration, and Purpose is expected in all aspects of work.
Key Responsibilities:
Medical Editing
- Engage in the content review process at all stages of production.
- Utilize advanced copyediting skills and knowledge to ensure accuracy and readability of all content, aligning with MLR feedback and brand guidelines.
- Exhibit expertise in AMA Style and maintain internal style guides for assigned accounts.
- Conduct thorough fact-checking and clean reads of promotional materials and data-related claims.
- Prioritize tasks effectively and maintain communication with core account team members throughout the project lifecycle.
- Assist in the review of materials for new business pitches.
Agency Processes
- Provide valuable insights on editorial processes during project kickoffs and team meetings, suggesting optimizations and solutions.
- Ensure compliance with each client’s unique requirements and maintain the integrity of editorial standards.
