About GiveDirectly
At GiveDirectly (GD), we are on a mission to revolutionize international philanthropy by delivering cash grants directly to those in need, fundamentally transforming millions of lives. The Brookings Institution suggests that addressing the poverty gap would require $70 billion in cash transfers; however, the aid industry currently expends $135 billion annually, largely on ineffective initiatives. Our goal is to shift this paradigm, establishing cash transfers as the gold standard for foreign aid—akin to how index funds serve the financial sector—accelerating the end of extreme poverty.
Since our inception in 2011, GD has raised over $1 billion and provided cash assistance to more than 1.5 million individuals across 15 countries. Our commitment to large-scale experimental research has shown significant positive outcomes for recipients. As a beacon of innovation, GD has been recognized by Fast Company and featured in prestigious publications such as The New York Times Magazine, This American Life, Foreign Affairs, and The Economist.
Our organizational culture is characterized by openness, analytical rigor, agility, and a flat hierarchy. Our diverse global team of approximately 150, alongside our country operations teams of around 650, hails from 21 different countries and speaks 69 languages. From software developers and humanitarian veterans to public servants and researchers, we are a dynamic and passionate collective.
Our values are central to our operations and deliberately defined. We are committed to centering the needs of those we serve in every decision we make, fostering an ambitious, dynamic, and high-performance environment. If our values resonate with your work style and aspirations, we encourage you to explore this opportunity further.
We strive to cultivate an environment where all team members can flourish, succeed, and develop professionally. We embrace flexibility, support one another, and prioritize creating enjoyable and growth-oriented experiences.
