The Automotive Service Manager, reporting directly to the Store Manager, plays a pivotal role in upholding the highest standards of excellence and embodying our core values to support the operational efficiency of the service department. This position demands the creation of a dynamic and motivated team environment, working collaboratively with the Service Team to enhance performance through direct involvement and effective coaching. You will be responsible for developing team members, ensuring seamless execution of store processes and procedures, and fostering a culture of excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the recruitment process by collaborating with the Store Manager on final hiring decisions.
- Oversee technicians and service staff, planning and scheduling their tasks, delegating work, and monitoring the completion of assignments.
- Provide coaching to service department team members on operational processes and adherence to service standards.
- Engage directly with customers regarding sales, service inquiries, and adjustments.
- Assess the performance and productivity of all service department personnel.
- Manage parts inventory and outside purchases, ensuring compliance with the Parts and Tire Purchase Program and restocking in-house parts as necessary.
- Promote and maintain store safety, including the proper use and upkeep of safety equipment.
- Ensure the effective layout and organization of equipment and hardware within the service area.
- Supervise the shop area, equipment, and staff for compliance with company safety protocols.
- Coach staff on enforcing wheel torqueing practices and ensure proper inspections are conducted.
