Join Ken Ganley Kia of Mentor, Ohio, as we seek motivated Military Veterans with mechanical experience ready to embark on an exciting career as an Automotive Service Technician.
This role is part of the Kia Veterans Technician Apprenticeship Program (VTAP), a specialized training initiative designed by Kia America to support Military Veterans in their transition to the automotive sector. Participants will gain invaluable hands-on experience at a Kia dealership while completing a one-year competency-based apprenticeship culminating in Kia Service Technician certification.
The VTAP program offers Veterans the chance to work full-time at a participating Kia dealership, receiving essential training, tools, and support to become proficient automotive technicians. It is also GI Bill® approved, allowing qualified Veterans to obtain a Monthly Housing Allowance (MHA) during their training period.
As an Automotive Technician Apprentice, you will collaborate with seasoned technicians and service professionals, enhancing your technical skills and practical knowledge to expertly diagnose, service, and repair Kia vehicles.
Job Responsibilities
- Diagnose, maintain, and repair Kia vehicles, focusing on engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, brakes, HVAC, and electrical systems.
- Conduct vehicle inspections, diagnostics, and repairs utilizing Kia’s specialized diagnostic protocols and equipment.
- Complete repair orders and warranty documentation in accordance with Kia and dealership standards.
- Test-drive vehicles to confirm the quality of repairs using appropriate diagnostic tools.
- Communicate effectively with service advisors and shop foremen to enhance the customer experience.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area while adhering to dealership safety guidelines.
