Reports To: Banquet Manager
Overview: As the Banquet Captain, you will take charge of the event staff during various occasions, ensuring that Banquet Servers and Bartenders deliver seamless and exceptional guest service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understand and anticipate client needs to ensure every event exceeds expectations.
- Foster a positive and motivating work environment for team members.
- Provide leadership and support to the banquets and catering teams.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with guests, event groups, and colleagues across departments.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with the Banquet Manager and Kitchen team to ensure all event details are secured.
- Possess a thorough understanding of the procedures, terminology, and techniques within the B&C department.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the ingredients and offerings of all food and beverage items available for events.
- Manage the execution of on-site events according to the Banquet Manager’s direction and B&C Standards & Tools manual.
- Oversee set-up and tear-down processes to ensure everything runs smoothly.
- Engage with on-site contacts, addressing impromptu requests and confidently resolving client inquiries and issues.
- Provide guidance to staff and maintain composure in high-pressure situations.
- Monitor staffing levels and make necessary adjustments to optimize costs while delivering outstanding events.
- Fulfill any duties related to the execution of events, including stepping in as an event server when required.
- Conduct a post-event walk-through to assess performance and outcomes.
- Complete end-of-event documentation, including accounting, inventory, and payroll reports.
- Document event summaries in the Banquet Captain Log with concise reports on event specifics.
- Exhibit comprehensive knowledge about the products, features, and services offered by the hotel and restaurant.
- Provide exemplary customer service to all guests of the hotel and restaurant, not limited to event attendees.
- Arrive punctually and ready to perform scheduled shifts.
