Position Overview: We are on the lookout for a proactive and meticulous Billing Accounts and Bookkeeping Assistant with a strong understanding of Australian legal billing practices. This role involves managing accounts receivable, overseeing monthly billing cycles, and performing essential bookkeeping tasks for a prestigious law firm located in Melbourne, Australia.
Compensation: $2000 AUD per month.
Engagement Type: This position is offered under an Independent Contractor Agreement.
Working Hours: You are expected to align your schedule with Australian business hours (approximately 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) while enjoying the flexibility of managing your own time.

Client Overview: Our client is a modern boutique law firm based in Melbourne, known for their commitment to simplifying legal services and making them accessible and cost-effective.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate billing across all active legal matters and ensure timely updates.
- Create and issue invoices using Smokeball, or prepare drafts for solicitor review.
- Apply relevant Victorian, Federal, and Family Law Court scales as necessary (preferred but not mandatory).
- Manage cost disclosure requirements at the start of new matters and upon reaching specified thresholds.
- Assist with trust account transaction entries under supervision.
- Review, assign, and reconcile emails to the appropriate legal matters.
- Collaborate with the legal team to ensure billing accuracy and confirm completion of matters.
- Support the maintenance of a consistent monthly billing cycle for all clients.
- Provide general administrative assistance as needed.
- Possibly take on additional bookkeeping responsibilities.
