What You Will Do
Each project presents unique challenges, and contributors may be involved in tasks such as:
- Creating original computational biology scenarios that replicate authentic biological research processes;
- Formulating problems that necessitate Python programming solutions utilizing libraries like Numpy, SciPy, and BioPython;
- Ensuring challenges are computationally demanding and cannot be resolved manually in a reasonable timeframe (days/weeks);
- Designing problems that require complex reasoning in bioinformatics, systems biology, and molecular modeling;
- Grounding problems in actual research issues or practical applications in the biological field;
- Validating solutions using Python and standard computational biology libraries;
- Clearly documenting problem statements and providing verified correct answers.
Your Qualifications
This opportunity is ideal for biology experts with Python experience who are interested in part-time, non-permanent projects. Ideal candidates will possess:
- A degree in Biology or a related field;
- Proficiency in Python for numerical validation, with familiarity in MATLAB, R, C, SQL, Numpy, Pandas, SciPy, or similar programming languages being acceptable;
- A minimum of 2 years of professional experience, whether in applied settings, research, or education;
- Experience in biological data analysis and algorithm development;
- Knowledge of bioinformatics tools and computational techniques;
- Strong written English proficiency (C1+).

Time Commitment
During active project phases, tasks are estimated to require approximately 10–20 hours per week, depending on specific project needs. This estimate does not guarantee a fixed workload and applies only while the project is active.
Compensation
Participants can earn up to $29 per hour, based on their level of expertise and contribution pace. Please note that compensation may vary across different projects based on their scope, complexity, and required skills.
