Opportunity Overview:
Each project presents unique challenges, and contributors may be required to:
- Craft innovative computational biology problems that replicate real-world biology research workflows;
- Develop problems that necessitate Python programming solutions (utilizing libraries such as Numpy, SciPy, BioPython);
- Ensure that problems are computationally demanding and cannot be resolved manually within reasonable timeframes (days/weeks);
- Create problems that involve complex reasoning in bioinformatics, systems biology, and molecular modeling;
- Base challenges on actual research queries or practical applications in biological practice;
- Validate solutions using Python with established computational biology libraries;
- Clearly document problem statements and provide verified correct answers.
Candidate Profile:
This position is best suited for biology specialists with Python experience who are open to part-time, non-permanent projects. Ideal candidates should possess:
- A degree in Biology or a related field;
- Proficiency in Python for numerical validation. Knowledge of MATLAB, R, C, SQL, Numpy, Pandas, SciPy, or any domain-specific libraries may also be accepted;
- A minimum of 2 years of professional experience: applicable experience can include applied work, research, or teaching;
- Experience in biological data analysis and algorithm development;
- Familiarity with bioinformatics tools and computational methodologies;
- Strong written English skills (C1+ level).

Project Time Commitment:
During active phases, tasks are estimated to require approximately 10–20 hours per week, contingent upon project requirements. This is an estimate and not a guaranteed workload.
Compensation:
Contributors can earn up to $76 per hour, contingent upon their level and contribution pace. Compensation varies by project based on its scope, complexity, and required expertise. Please be aware that different projects on the platform may offer varying compensation levels based on their specific requirements.
