As a Category Manager, you possess in-depth knowledge of various procurement categories in the construction industry. You actively monitor market trends, identify opportunities within the supply chain, and understand the essentials for strategic sourcing. At Dura Vermeer, you will have the unique opportunity to establish category management from the ground up.
Your Role
In this position, you will play a critical role in establishing and enhancing category management within Dura Vermeer’s new centralized procurement organization for construction and real estate. You will keep abreast of market developments related to your categories (such as installations & technology, structural work, facades, and/or roofs) and translate these insights into actionable decisions. You have a keen eye for identifying opportunities, whether it involves innovative suppliers, alternative materials, or modern contracting methods such as relational or value-oriented contracting.
As the Category Manager, you'll be responsible for drafting and maintaining category plans for strategic procurement categories. You will oversee implementation and make adjustments as necessary. Colleagues will rely on you as the expert for supplier-related inquiries, and you will maintain extensive communication with team members involved in project preparation and execution. In essence, you will chart a clear course that contributes to improved project outcomes.
You will forge sustainable partnerships with the right suppliers, focusing on integral value, including delivery reliability, safety, innovation capacity, CO₂ reduction, failure cost management, and customer satisfaction. Furthermore, you will initiate regular evaluation sessions to discuss performance and implement improvements. Throughout your work, you will keep in mind the needs of clients and colleagues involved in preparation and execution.
