This role is pivotal in managing the inventory and sterilization processes for our surgical instruments, directly contributing to our mission of saving lives through organ and tissue donation.
As a Central Supply Specialist (CSS), you will be instrumental in fulfilling our mission to "Save and Heal Lives". The CSS oversees inventory across all New England Donor Services (NEDS) offices, including those in Waltham, Westbrook, and Vernon, CT.
Full-time days comprise 40 hours each week with a variable schedule to support NEDS' 24/7 operations. Weekend and holiday shifts are part of the rotation.
- Regular day shift from Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
- Every third week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday (with Thursday and Friday off), followed by working Saturday and Sunday for 40 hours.
- The following week involves four 10-hour shifts from 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM for 40 hours.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Perform daily data entry for supply inventory using NEDS' online system, BTM.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external customers.
- Monitor all clinical equipment (freezers, sterilizers, washers, refrigerators) and complete necessary documentation.
- Ensure compliance with AATB standards and NEDS Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for tissue storage, supply storage, and sterilization.
- Complete required documentation through data entry into NEDS' online platforms including SharePoint, BTM, TrueNorth, and ADP.
- Conduct on-the-job training for new hires as directed by the Manager.
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Physically receive all supplies delivered to the NEDS Waltham facility.
- Manage ordering, restocking, rotating, and reconciling inventory levels for clinical readiness across all locations.
- Clean, decontaminate, and sterilize instrument recovery kits according to NEDS SOPs.
- Travel to satellite offices as needed to deliver, stock, rotate, and reconcile supplies using the inventory management system.
- Transport recovered tissue from satellite offices to Waltham via NEDS vehicles.
- Oversee the shipping of recovered tissue to processors as required.
- Maintain the cleanliness of clinical areas, including satellite offices, in accordance with NEDS SOPs.
- Clean kidney pumps to ensure clinical readiness.
- Coordinate the disposal of all NEDS medical waste.
- Maintain linen inventory for clinical activities.
