Certified Medical Assistant - UP Family Medicine - Flowood
Job Summary:
As a Certified Medical Assistant, you will play a crucial role in facilitating smooth administrative and clinical operations within our medical office. You will support our dedicated staff in the examination and treatment of patients, ensuring a high standard of care.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Proficient understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, and medical terminology. Competence in utilizing personal computers and relevant software applications. Strong interpersonal skills for effective interaction with patients and team members. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Capable record management and accounting skills. Demonstrated ability to collect, document, and maintain patient data accurately.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in direct patient care procedures, including patient check-ins, obtaining medical histories, measuring vital signs, preparing medical charts, and aiding in examinations.
- Conduct routine specialized procedures such as venipuncture, catheterization, and sterile dressing changes as per established protocols. Collect and prepare laboratory specimens for analysis.
- Organize and maintain examining room instruments and equipment; ensure sterilization of medical instruments and proper disposal of contaminated supplies; manage inventory of medications and medical supplies.
- Provide patient education and advice on specific medical topics within established guidelines.
- Perform administrative tasks such as answering phone calls, greeting patients, updating and filing medical records, verifying patient demographics and insurance details, scheduling appointments, and handling billing and bookkeeping.
- Adhere to safety, environmental, and infection control protocols.
- Fulfill additional duties as assigned.
Physical and Environmental Demands:
This role requires occasional exposure to challenging physical environments, including high noise levels and varying temperatures. Responsibilities may involve handling potentially hazardous equipment and frequent exposure to biohazardous conditions, necessitating strict adherence to safety protocols. Physical activities may include frequent bending, occasional lifting of up to 75 pounds, climbing, crawling, crouching, kneeling, pushing/pulling, constant reaching, and standing or walking for extended periods.
