The New York City Department of Transportation (NYC DOT) is actively seeking a dedicated and dynamic individual to take on the role of Chief of Staff, directly supporting the Commissioner. In this pivotal position, the successful candidate will be an integral part of the Commissioner’s senior team, focusing on prioritizing and coordinating various work efforts, managing the flow of information, and ensuring effective oversight of policy, operational, strategic, and budget initiatives. This role involves close collaboration with the Commissioner and other leadership team members to establish strategic direction and partake in critical decision-making for the agency.
The Chief of Staff will assist in the overall management of the agency alongside the Commissioner, facilitating daily operations by overseeing the activities of the Commissioner’s Executive Assistant, Deputy Chief of Staff, and Assistant to the Deputy Chief of Staff. Additionally, this individual will work in partnership with Divisional Chiefs of Staff to foster synergy across the agency. Serving as a liaison to City Hall, they will prepare high-level memos, presentations, and reports, and respond to inquiries and requests for information. Building and maintaining strong relationships with DOT’s sister agencies and external stakeholders is crucial.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Collaborating with the Commissioner and Deputy Chief of Staff to devise, implement, and refine a strategic vision and priority initiatives for the agency.
- Working closely with Deputy Commissioners and division heads to tackle issues and provide timely insights to the Commissioner, City Hall, and other internal and external entities.
- Organizing and prioritizing critical issues and necessary information to facilitate efficient decision-making.
- Serving as the primary contact between the Commissioner and various stakeholders, offering oversight and guidance on high-priority projects.
- Acting as an adviser to the Commissioner and senior management team.
