The Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) is dedicated to enhancing the efficiency of city government for all New Yorkers. The Office of Public Affairs is responsible for all agency communications, including media relations, speechwriting, marketing campaigns, publications, photography and videography, digital and social media, and special event coordination. Additionally, the office manages intergovernmental relations and legislative affairs. The Chief of Staff will be pivotal in supporting the Deputy Commissioner and will provide strategic guidance on communication and legislative initiatives. This role requires thorough analysis of pending legislative proposals affecting the agency and ensuring compliance with all relevant local laws and executive orders. The Chief of Staff will also act as the primary contact for various stakeholders, proactively resolving issues on behalf of the Deputy Commissioner and identifying effective solutions.
Reporting directly to the Deputy Commissioner, the Chief of Staff will be entrusted with the following responsibilities:
- Advising the Deputy Commissioner on communications and legislative strategies.
- Serving as a key liaison for internal DCAS stakeholders.
- Acting as the Deputy Commissioner’s representative to other city agencies and external partners, particularly community boards and the state legislature.
- Contributing to the formulation and execution of the agency’s legislative priorities.
- Supporting the Office of Communications in developing engaging social media content.
- Drafting comprehensive reports and correspondence as needed.
