Serving a community of 1.3 million, Allegheny County’s Department of Human Services (DHS) is an ideal workplace for those who want to make a tangible difference in the lives of those in need. As a CYF Caseworker, you will provide vital protective and supportive services to children and families affected by abuse or neglect. Depending on your assignment, you will also offer counseling services to children, families, foster parents, and adoptive parents. Your role will involve participating in family conferencing and teaming to assist families in achieving their safety and self-sufficiency goals, intervening in crises when necessary, and presenting case facts and testimonies in Children’s Court.
In this position with Allegheny County’s DHS, Office of Children, Youth and Families (CYF), trainees will work under the guidance of a casework supervisor for a six-month probationary period. During this time, trainees will complete a comprehensive ten-week curriculum that includes both classroom and fieldwork. You will engage with families from the moment they are referred to DHS/CYF until their case is resolved.
