Division/Program Overview:
The Bureau of Childcare plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with the New York City Health Code and New York State Social Service regulations for childcare services. Our primary goal is to protect the health and safety of children in childcare environments while enhancing access to high-quality programs that foster early childhood development and learning.
Position Overview:
The Clearance Administrator will be responsible for conducting thorough background checks for childcare staff, ensuring a safe environment for children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate background clearance applications for completeness and ensure timely processing of required checks.
- Oversee a caseload of clearance requests for both licensed and prospective childcare providers.
- Analyze and verify records, documents, and pertinent information.
- Draft determination letters and engage with childcare providers and staff regarding clearance processes.
- Provide guidance to childcare operators concerning the background checks needed for licensing.
- Maintain confidentiality of stored information and update databases per established protocols.
- Act as a liaison between City and State agencies, community organizations, parents, and the public to support Early Childhood Education initiatives.
