As an experienced Registered Nurse, you will not only provide direct patient care but also play a crucial role in facilitating an interdisciplinary approach to patient care, managing patient flow, optimizing staffing, resource utilization, and problem-solving during your shift.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee unit operations on a shift basis in alignment with policies and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate staffing assignments to deliver high-quality, cost-effective care.
- Guide patient care provided by nursing and support staff during your shift.
- Lead new initiatives and participate in departmental or hospital-wide committees/task forces.
- Engage directly with patients and their families regarding nursing care.
- Implement action plans to ensure safe, quality, and efficient patient care.
- Ensure the safety and security of patients, their families, and staff.
- Deliver direct patient care and continuously assess the biopsychosocial and learning needs of patients and their families.
- Respond effectively to the needs of patients and their families.
- Monitor patient responses to therapeutic interventions and document progress towards outcomes.
- Ensure completion of quality improvement activities for the assigned shift.
- Assess and intervene in critical situations involving patients, staff, and visitors, consulting with management as needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and appealing environment for patients, staff, and visitors, adhering to regulatory standards.
- Analyze daily activity patterns to recommend operational or programmatic changes as necessary.
- Anticipate staffing requirements for upcoming shifts and arrange appropriate coverage.
- Facilitate effective interdepartmental communication regarding incidents with relevant personnel.
- Identify key issues and trends, communicating them to management with suggestions for improvement.
- Provide input on budgetary matters, especially concerning staffing and cost containment strategies.
- Build relationships across departments to enhance patient care delivery.
- Assess and communicate staff development needs to management.
- Orient new staff to the Clinical Coordinator and Charge roles.
- Act as a resource for staff members.
