As a seasoned Registered Nurse, the Clinical Coordinator not only delivers direct patient care but also plays a pivotal role in fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, managing patient flow, optimizing staffing, utilizing resources efficiently, and resolving issues during their shift.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee unit operations on a shift basis, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Strategically coordinate staffing assignments to deliver high-quality, cost-effective patient care.
- Guide patient care activities performed by nursing staff and support personnel during the shift.
- Lead new initiatives and participate in committees or task forces at the unit, departmental, or hospital level.
- Engage directly with patients and their families regarding nursing care matters.
- Develop and implement action plans to ensure safe, quality, and efficient patient care.
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, family members, and staff.
- Provide direct patient care while continuously assessing patients and their families' biopsychosocial and educational needs.
- Monitor and document patient responses to therapeutic interventions and progress toward expected outcomes.
- Ensure completion of quality improvement activities for the shift.
- Assess and intervene during critical situations involving patients, staff, and visitors, consulting with management as necessary.
- Guarantee a clean, welcoming, and hazard-free environment for all.
- Analyze daily operational patterns and recommend program changes as needed.
- Anticipate staffing needs for upcoming shifts and arrange coverage accordingly.
- Facilitate effective interdepartmental communication regarding incidents with relevant personnel.
- Provide input on budgetary considerations, particularly relating to staffing and cost management strategies.
- Build relationships across departments to enhance patient care.
- Identify staff development needs and communicate them to management.
- Orient new staff to the roles of Clinical Coordinator and Charge Nurse.
- Act as a resource for staff.
