This position is with a highly esteemed multi-campus acute-care hospital system, home to Southwest Riverside County's only designated Trauma Center, as well as the largest Childbirth Center in the region and the sole Pediatric Emergency Services team.
Position Overview
The Clinical Laboratory Manager holds a pivotal leadership role, overseeing daily operations of the Laboratory Department and managing a dedicated team of Clinical Laboratory Scientists (CLS) and Lab Assistants. This role guarantees the consistent provision of high-quality laboratory services, compliance with regulatory standards, and effective workload management. The Manager plays a crucial role in guiding, administering, and accomplishing the laboratory team's operational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all laboratory operations, ensuring smooth and precise testing procedures.
- Lead, mentor, and guide a team of CLS staff and Lab Assistants, ensuring equitable workload distribution and strict adherence to protocols.
- Maintain full compliance with institutional policies and industry standards, including regulations set forth by TJC, DHS, and CLIA 88.
- Utilize a strong grasp of scientific principles and technical aspects related to laboratory testing.
- Maintain a broad understanding of physiology, biochemistry, immunology, microbiology, and genetic factors impacting health and disease in relation to lab results.
- Manage financial, human resource, and regulatory functions within the laboratory department.
