ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Utilize laboratory computer systems to meticulously document all actions related to patient and quality control testing.
- Conduct laboratory testing in accordance with established laboratory policies and procedures.
- Perform and accurately document instrument calibrations following the guidelines set forth by manufacturers.
- Execute routine preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment as per laboratory protocols and manufacturer recommendations.
- Carry out quality control testing as stipulated in laboratory policies, ensuring all remedial actions for out-of-control results are thoroughly documented.
- Promptly perform STAT testing and effectively manage testing priorities during high-volume situations to accelerate patient results.
- Communicate Panic Values to the ordering service and ensure all actions taken are well documented.
- Adhere to all laboratory safety policies and procedures, including Standard Precautions.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Execute venous and arterial punctures to collect specimens for laboratory testing.
- Maintain a clean workspace and ensure adequate supplies and reagents are available.
- Assist in researching and implementing new testing procedures.
- Support the training and supervision of Laboratory Assistants.
- Supervise lab assistants and phlebotomists during weekends and after-hours.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent manual dexterity and capacity to follow detailed instructions accurately.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATION:
- A four-year college degree with a valid Clinical Laboratory License issued by the State of California Department of Health Services is mandatory.
