We are currently in search of a seasoned Commercial Manager to join our central commercial team.
This pivotal role will primarily operate from our central office in Ballymount, Dublin, with occasional travel to project sites across Europe.
The successful candidate will report directly to the Commercial Director, delivering high-level commercial analysis, ensuring consistent practices across regions, and enhancing overall commercial performance. The ideal individual will be autonomous, capable of challenging established assumptions, and will excel in providing clear and insightful recommendations to leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a senior support to the Commercial Director, delivering structured analysis and concise decision-making summaries.
- Conduct thorough reviews of monthly project CVRs, identifying movements, anomalies, risks, and opportunities.
- Spot inconsistencies in commercial processes and advocate for alignment across regions.
- Collaborate with the Estimating team to assess procurement activities and question variances against tender strategies.
- Offer regular insights based on lessons learned for Estimating and Operations.
- Perform detailed commercial and contractual evaluations for both client and subcontractor agreements.
- Assist in resolving complex commercial issues, claims, and disputes by compiling facts, analyzing positions, and preparing recommendations.
- Contribute to the growth of the commercial team, including graduate programs and recruitment initiatives.
- Lead centralized procurement efforts and monitor supply chain performance.
- Oversee project correspondence to ensure contract compliance and effective communication quality.
- Champion process enhancements and promote technology adoption.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 15 years’ experience in commercial roles within the construction sector, preferably in a main contracting environment; experience in specialist subcontracting or client-side roles is a valuable advantage.
- A degree in Quantity Surveying or Engineering (or equivalent).
- Strong analytical, contractual, and commercial skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and proactively provide solutions.
- Experience in procurement oversight, CVR analysis, and dispute/claim resolution.
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- A solid understanding of commercial processes, forecasting, and supplier management.
