The commercial division at AECOM serves as a crucial link between our operational practices and essential corporate functions such as finance, legal, and risk management. This role is pivotal in driving the ambitious and sustainable growth of our Water business, ensuring that our contracts align with corporate risk thresholds and financial objectives, while balancing AECOM's commercial interests with client expectations.

As the Commercial Manager, you will collaborate closely with the Commercial Director and various leaders within our Water Business. You will provide strategic insights and guidance on bidding processes, ensuring that our proposals and projects are commercially viable and aligned with our business performance metrics. You will spearhead the governance procedures for project delivery and promote commercial best practices.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Foster strong relationships across the Water business, engaging with teams in Commercial, Legal, Finance, Operations, and project delivery.
  • Mentor a Project Commercial Manager, leading improvements in commercial project delivery and facilitating necessary training.
  • Offer well-evaluated, solution-oriented risk and commercial advice throughout the project lifecycle to optimize the performance of the Water business, balancing risk and reward.
  • Contribute to the commercial and operational teams' initiatives for business enhancement.
  • Formulate and implement effective commercial strategies for bids, incorporating key financial metrics and ensuring compliance with AECOM's commercial objectives.
  • Uphold governance standards, assisting project teams with submissions that require additional approvals, and ensuring timely closure of governance actions, escalating issues to the Commercial Director as necessary.
  • Collaborate with legal counsel on commercial matters including contracts, warranties, and performance guarantees. Serve as a key resource in contract negotiations.
  • Engage in project reviews, proactive discussions with clients and suppliers, and ensure the execution of action items.
  • Assist the Water Commercial Director with any commercial and contract-related inquiries.
