The Stargate team is pivotal in shaping our core infrastructure strategy and executing projects at a global scale, from site selection to complete buildout, working closely with both internal and external stakeholders.
About the Position
We are seeking a dedicated Commissioning and Quality Program Manager - Stargate to take charge of quality assurance, quality control, and commissioning throughout all stages of our expansive hyperscale data center initiatives. You will be responsible for ensuring that the quality of work adheres to or surpasses OpenAI's design standards, performance criteria, and reliability benchmarks, from initial construction to commissioning and handover to operations.
Your role will involve establishing and enforcing QA/QC standards, inspection protocols, commissioning scopes, and acceptance criteria. You will collaborate closely with contractors, design teams, and commissioning partners to foster a culture that prioritizes quality.
Travel Requirements: Up to 50% travel may be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and uphold the portfolio-level QA/QC program for hyperscale data center construction, including standards, checklists, and acceptance protocols.
- Review and approve developer QA/QC and commissioning plans to ensure alignment with project specifications and industry best practices.
- Conduct oversight of site inspections across civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, and electrical scopes.
- Validate installation quality against plans, specifications, and manufacturer requirements.
- Track punch list items, NCRs, and corrective actions with developers and contractors, including critical Method of Procedure (MOP) work.
- Collaborate with the developer’s commissioning teams to ensure QA/QC documentation supports readiness for functional and integrated testing.
- Confirm completion of functional and integrated systems testing ahead of OAI acceptance.
- Maintain up-to-date quality tracking and reporting dashboards for program leadership.
- Train and guide site teams on quality expectations, inspections, and documentation standards.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by capturing lessons learned and updating standards for future projects.
