As a vital member of our Commissioning team, the Commissioning Technologist Intern will work under the guidance of the Commissioning Manager, gaining invaluable hands-on experience with primary and secondary power systems. This role will involve assisting in the commissioning and testing of various power equipment, while gaining insights into the operation of medium to high-voltage substation power delivery systems, including breakers, switchgear, relays, transformers, and more. You will be mentored by an experienced team member, providing you with exposure to diverse aspects of the industry, which will help you develop practical skills and establish a solid foundation for your future career.
Key Responsibilities:
In this position, you will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of activities related to power systems, including:
- Collaborating safely with all construction and commissioning team members
- Assisting in the testing and maintenance of electrical equipment
- Supporting the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of protection and control equipment in transmission substations
- Learning to interpret technical blueprints and analyze test reports to identify potential improvements
- Working with high-voltage equipment, including circuit breakers, transformers, switches, and control circuits for monitoring systems
- Calibrating electronic instruments as necessary
- Utilizing industry-standard testing equipment such as:
- TTR (Transformer Turns Ratio) testers
- Omicron secondary test sets
- Winding resistance testers
- Omicron CPC 100
- CT saturators
What You Will Gain:

Qualifications:

- Currently enrolled in a relevant post-secondary program (Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, Power Systems, or a related field)
- Strong enthusiasm for learning about electrical power systems
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while adhering to safety protocols
- Detail-oriented with effective communication skills
- Willingness to accept guidance from senior team members
- Able to work out of town on a shift rotation (e.g., 4 days on, 3 days off)
- Willingness to undergo drug and alcohol testing in compliance with local regulations
