Qualifications
Education, Knowledge, and ExperiencePost-secondary education in Local Government Administration, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field (e.g., Legal Administrative Assistant or Conveyancing). Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will also be considered.Political acumen and a solid understanding of relevant acts and duties, including the Community Charter, Local Government Act, and FOIPPA.A valid BC (Class 5) driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory police information check for new hires and those in designated positions of trust, particularly when working directly with vulnerable individuals.

The Committee Clerk plays a vital role in the corporate services division of the City of Merritt, aiding the organization in reaching its objectives and enhancing the productivity of the senior leadership team.
This position is responsible for drafting official documents, including bylaws and policies, while also assisting in the management of contractual agreements and procedures necessary for municipal operations. The incumbent will handle corporate records, maintain confidentiality, and prepare high-level correspondence and communications.
The Committee Clerk is tasked with recording and transcribing minutes for both Council and Committee meetings, compiling agenda packages, and processing files and resolutions. In addition, this role provides essential clerical and administrative support, which includes calendar management, scheduling appointments with necessary meeting materials, organizing travel arrangements, and other functions that facilitate the effective operations of the senior leadership team, Mayor, and Council.
The position requires availability for evening meetings beyond regular working hours.
