Join the City and County of San Francisco as a Communications Dispatcher I in a full-time, temporary provisional position. This role, set for a full year (260 days), is integral to the city’s communication functions. Initially excluded from the competitive Civil Service examination process, this position will transition to the Permanent Civil Service examination at a later date. Successful candidates will need to participate in the Permanent Civil Service examination to be considered for permanent appointment. Please note that provisional appointments may not exceed three (3) years.
Salary ranges from $33.4247 to $40.4587 per hour, translating to an annual salary of $69,523 to $84,154. Note that the salary placement is budgeted not to exceed step 1 of the salary schedule, regardless of qualifications or experience, with possible exceptions for current City and County of San Francisco employees based on applicable policies.
Under supervision, the Communications Dispatcher I will engage in various specialized duties related to communications dispatch operations, including but not limited to:
operating a range of communication equipment, verifying message accuracy, dispatching mobile units to specific locations, reading maps, and maintaining essential logs of communications.
This role requires working assigned shifts of 8 to 10 hours, including weekends, holidays, and potential overtime. Note: This position requires an office presence and is not remote.
