Texas Health Action (THA) is actively seeking Registered Nurses to join our Austin Area Kind Clinics. The Registered Nurse will play a vital role in delivering patient care during clinic operating hours, reporting to the Clinic Administrator and receiving clinical oversight from the Nurse Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the evaluation and care of patients at the Kind Clinic, which includes preparing patients for examinations, taking vital signs, and documenting medical histories through patient interviews.
- Provide direct nursing care, including lab services and administering medications and treatments according to accepted standards of care.
- Conduct follow-up visits and physical examinations in line with Texas Nursing Practice Act guidelines.
- Educate and counsel patients on health assessments, disease prevention, hygiene, and health maintenance in a culturally appropriate manner.
- Deliver clinical training to new Medical Assistant staff and provide constructive feedback to the Clinic Administrator.
- Review and prepare patient charts prior to appointments.
- Mentor clinic support staff and collaborate with the Patient Support Center RN team as needed.
- Adhere to clinical policies and procedures when interpreting lab results and managing medication refills.
- Comply with Texas DSHS reporting requirements for certain conditions diagnosed in-clinic.
- Prioritize and complete tasks efficiently.
- Maintain detailed progress notes, problem lists, and medication lists.
- Communicate effectively and tactfully with patients, staff, and community partners.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the clinic's overall mission.
