Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:6+ years of relevant experience or a combination of education and related work experience.Comprehensive knowledge of municipal infrastructure construction methodologies and standards.Capability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and survey layouts.Familiarity with municipal standards, Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) regulations, and environmental requirements.Proficient in the use of inspection tools, GPS/survey equipment, and construction software.Preferred Requirements:10+ years of experience in municipal construction or civil field inspection.A diploma or degree in civil engineering technology, construction management, or a related field.CET designation or eligibility (preferred).A valid Alberta driver’s license, access to a vehicle, and the ability to work outdoors in various conditions.Excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills.Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.

The Construction Field Coordinator plays a pivotal role in the successful execution of municipal infrastructure projects. This position involves coordinating daily site activities, overseeing construction progress, and ensuring adherence to engineering designs, municipal standards, and regulatory requirements. The role provides essential on-site technical support for projects related to water distribution systems, sanitary and storm sewers, roadway construction, grading, and other civil works.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate daily construction operations across various civil disciplines.
- Examine drawings, specifications, and field modifications to ensure precise execution.
- Collaborate with contractors, consultants, utility companies, and municipal departments.
- Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with design specifications, standards, and contractual obligations.
- Record field conditions, project progress, and deficiencies through daily reports and inspection logs.
- Oversee material quality, workmanship, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Identify and address field issues, including utility conflicts and unexpected site conditions.
- Manage Requests for Information (RFIs), site instructions, change orders, and design clarifications.
- Promote and enforce safety, environmental, and traffic control protocols.
- Maintain accurate field documentation and assist with progress reporting, cost tracking, and payment validation.
- Communicate construction implications and take part in site, coordination, and public engagement meetings.
