Job Summary:
The Construction General Laborer plays a crucial role in supporting various physical tasks necessary for the successful completion of construction projects. This position demands physical endurance, strength, and a collaborative spirit while working under the guidance of skilled tradespeople, site managers, and other construction professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Site Preparation:
- Clear and prepare construction sites by removing debris and obstacles.
- Set up and dismantle temporary structures, including scaffolding and barriers.
- Excavate trenches, holes, and foundations as necessary.
- Material Handling:
- Load and unload construction materials from delivery vehicles.
- Distribute materials to designated areas on-site.
- Organize and store materials and tools efficiently.
- Equipment Operation:
- Utilize hand and power tools, including jackhammers, drills, and saws.
- Operate light machinery such as forklifts and backhoes, where certified.
- Assistance to Skilled Workers:
- Support carpenters, masons, electricians, plumbers, and other tradespeople in their tasks.
- Mix and pour concrete, assist in masonry, and frame structures.
- Secure materials during installation and assembly processes.
- Site Maintenance:
- Ensure cleanliness and organization on the construction site.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and practices.
- Conduct regular equipment inspections and perform basic maintenance.
Qualifications:
- Physical Requirements:
- Capability to lift heavy objects (50 lbs or more) and engage in strenuous physical activity.
- Endurance to perform repetitive tasks and adapt to varying weather conditions.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and dexterity.
- Experience and Skills:
- Prior experience in construction or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
- Basic understanding of construction tools and equipment.
- Ability to follow directions and collaborate effectively within a team environment.
