Position Overview:
We are looking for a Controller to lead and expand our accounting functions as we scale. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who thrives on building processes from the ground up, streamlining operations, and introducing structure to complexity while proactively considering how finance can contribute to our business objectives.
In this role, you will report directly to the CFO and play a pivotal role in transforming our financial operations, automating workflows, and preparing us for future growth. There is a clear trajectory for this role to evolve into more strategic finance and analytical leadership as the company progresses.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the Accounting Function:
- Continuously assess and enhance accounting processes utilizing AI and automation technologies to minimize manual inputs and establish a self-sustaining finance operation.
- Prepare and review financial statements in compliance with GAAP standards.
- Manage general ledger activities, revenue recognition, accruals, payroll accounting, and reconciliations.
- Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management.
- Lead audits, oversee tax filings, and ensure compliance with external firms and advisors.
- Create and maintain scalable accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Improve and Automate Processes:
- Design and implement scalable accounting workflows from inception.
- Identify and rectify inefficient, messy, or fragile processes through automation and upgraded systems.
- Own and enhance the accounting technology stack (ERP, billing, payroll, expenses, etc.).
- Collaborate cross-functionally to enhance how data is integrated from the business into financial records.
