Job Summary:
The Cost Accountant is vital in enhancing inventory and cost accounting processes within a dynamic manufacturing setting. This role will involve assisting with the monthly closing procedures, performing cost variance analyses, executing inventory reconciliations, and generating financial reports to ensure precise product costing and uphold the integrity of financial statements.

Reporting to: Associate Director, Inventory Accounting
Location: Johnson City, TN (5 days required onsite) or Nashville, TN (4-5 days required onsite)
Responsibilities/Essential Duties:
- Facilitate recurring inventory accounting procedures, including variance tracking, inventory valuation, and cost allocations.
- Assist in preparing monthly closing schedules that compare standard costs against actual production costs.
- Support the analysis of manufacturing costs and identify fundamental cost variances.
- Aid in period-end accounting close activities to ensure timely completion.
- Prepare journal entries under supervision and assist with monthly reporting tasks.
- Contribute to balance sheet account reconciliations (e.g., inventory, accruals) using OneStream.
- Assist in planning and coordinating physical inventory counts with warehouse staff and auditors.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather necessary information for cost analysis and reporting.
- Support the preparation of documentation for audits conducted by internal and external auditors.
- Help maintain documentation supporting internal controls and compliance requirements.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives within the accounting team.
- Provide data and additional supporting information requests for audits and reviews by internal and external auditors.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of directly related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
