About the Position
Join Jane Street as an Interior Designer and contribute to the creation of stunning, innovative, and functional spaces that embody the spirit of our organization.
At Jane Street, we foster an open, collaborative, and intellectually stimulating culture. Our love for patterns, puzzles, and creative references to mathematical and scientific concepts is reflected in our work environment. We are seeking a talented individual who can collaborate with various teams to draw inspiration and weave these concepts into our architectural and design initiatives.
This unique role will have you working closely with our Creative Engagement team while being integrated within the Engineering department, providing you the chance to influence creative concepts from the ground up. A key to thriving in this position is understanding how our culture shapes our spatial usage. Your daily responsibilities will include:
- Collaborating with and managing internal teams to define project objectives and requirements, while developing sketches, models, and renderings to guide design direction.
- Establishing timelines, selecting and managing vendors, evaluating proposals and estimates, tracking milestones, confirming materials, coordinating installations, and conducting error reviews.
- Implementing wayfinding strategies to ensure our spaces remain intuitive and easy to navigate.
- Overseeing space planning, layouts, and the utilization of new and existing furniture and decor based on inventory and usage rates.
- Contemplating the subtle details of our spaces and how they should be staged for both day-to-day operations and special programs or recruitment events.
- Monitoring the effectiveness of various spaces for different purposes, noting what works well and what should be avoided in the future.
- Keeping abreast of furniture innovations and sharing insights with the team about new market trends and relevant showrooms and conventions.
- Supervising our furniture punch list and enhancing the process whenever possible.
- Creating furniture specification packages for distributors, assessing procurement bids, and providing cost estimates with timelines during the design phase.
Traditionally, these responsibilities were distributed among multiple individuals, but as our teams and environments evolve, we require a dedicated professional to focus solely on these efforts.
