The Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) is at the forefront of managing pivotal projects and technological advancements within the NYPD. This division is responsible for enhancing the department's IT infrastructure, encompassing networks, servers, and workstations. Noteworthy initiatives include equipping officers with mobile phone applications and digitizing departmental forms to boost operational efficiency.
ITSD is actively seeking a skilled IT Security Specialist to assume the role of Data Architect. The selected candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks including, but not limited to:
1. Administer SQL Server databases, overseeing multiple environments (development, testing, and production), performing maintenance, patching, troubleshooting, and managing SSIS & SSRS deployments and security.
2. Monitor and assess data platforms to ensure databases are available, secure, healthy, efficient, and recoverable based on established expectations.
3. Implement and manage physical databases for mission-critical systems, conducting capacity planning to forecast future storage requirements.
4. Collaborate with application owners to facilitate a smooth process for migrating their schemas and data to the data platform.
5. Partner with development and QA teams to deliver robust, quality solutions timely.
6. Design and manage High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) architectures, including Clustering, Replication, and Always On solutions.
