Data Center Project Manager
Join IMC as a meticulous and motivated Data Center Project Manager within our Global Research Cluster (GRC) team. As we expand our network of GRC systems and facilities, this pivotal role will be responsible for overseeing all facets of our data center (DC) operations. You will manage comprehensive activities across multiple data centers, guaranteeing efficient project implementation, hardware delivery, and continuous maintenance. The perfect candidate will possess a robust technical foundation in data center infrastructure, practical project management abilities, and exceptional coordination skills to liaise with both internal teams and external suppliers.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Lead Data Center Expansion Initiatives
- Supervise power, (liquid) cooling, and heating/cooling air circulation (H/CaC) design and installation in collaboration with DC partners
- Work alongside data centers on the design of large-scale power and cooling requirements for expansion sites
- Oversee the hardware delivery and installation process
- Manage the complete hardware lifecycle—from purchase order submission to full installation in the data center
- Monitor orders, collaborate with Procurement, and manage inventory effectively
- Ensure that GRC asset records are precise and current in Workday
- Coordinate deliveries, on-site logistics, and remote assistance for installation tasks
- Collaborate with Platform and Network teams to transition systems from installation to production
- Direct hardware monitoring and issue resolution
- Preemptively manage and troubleshoot hardware-related issues
- Coordinate with DC Engineering for repairs and replacements
- Oversee RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) processes
- Manage equipment servicing and maintenance
- Schedule and coordinate vendor servicing for critical systems, including liquid cooling
- Coordinate Data Center Engineering and Vendor Operations
- Plan and oversee DC Engineering workstreams
- Act as the primary contact for DC vendors, ensuring effective communication and prompt issue resolution
- Engage in hands-on data center work as necessary
Your Skills and Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in the design and implementation of DC power and (liquid) cooling systems
- Practical experience managing contemporary HPC environments and liquid-cooled GPU hosts
- Strong project management skills, capable of managing multiple complex projects simultaneously
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
