Join us as a Data Platform Architect at SanDisk, where you will spearhead the design, implementation, and modernization of our enterprise data platform. This includes overseeing data governance, lakehouse architecture, data engineering pipelines, analytics, and AI-enhanced solutions. This pivotal role demands a blend of technical proficiency, strategic foresight, and leadership to cultivate a scalable, governed, and intelligent data ecosystem across both cloud and on-premises environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Architecture & Strategy
- Define and perpetually refine the target data architecture encompassing governance, engineering, modeling, lakehouse, and AI/ML.
- Translate business objectives and technical requirements into scalable, resilient platform designs.
- Oversee and uphold architectural roadmaps, standards, and decision frameworks.
- Serve as a liaison between architects, business SMEs/analysts, data engineers, and analytics teams to ensure alignment with platform standards.
Data Engineering & Platform Delivery
- Design and implement modern ELT/ETL pipelines utilizing tools such as Spark, Python, SQL, Scala, and cloud-native components (e.g., Fivetran, Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery).
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with Databricks and Unity Catalog.
- Construct and manage Lakehouse platforms using Delta Lake, Iceberg, or equivalent technologies.
- Oversee data ingestion from diverse sources including ERP, CRM, IoT, and third-party APIs.
- Facilitate hands-on development of robust, reusable, and automated data flows.
Governance, Metadata, and Quality
- Establish and enforce data governance frameworks including data lineage, metadata management, and access controls.
- Collaborate with Data Stewards and Governance Analysts to catalog data domains, define entities, and ensure SOX compliance.
- Promote the adoption of tools such as Atlan and Unity Catalog for metadata management and data stewardship.
- Develop comprehensive data models (ERDs, dimensional and 3NF) and establish canonical data representations.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Review solution designs and provide architectural direction to engineering teams.
- Mentor technical staff while promoting best practices and continuous improvement.
- Work closely with DevOps to integrate CI/CD, version control, and environment automation throughout the data lifecycle.
- Continuously evaluate and enhance platform reliability, scalability, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
