As a Department Manager, you will lead, inspire, and support your team, fostering a culture of inclusivity and collaboration. Your leadership will be integral in promoting an entrepreneurial spirit, driving success for yourself, your team, and H&M. You will ensure an exceptional operational and visual experience for customers and colleagues alike. By understanding your store’s strengths, opportunities, and market dynamics, you will analyze sales performance and strategize for optimal results and profitability.
A Day in the Life
At H&M, no two days are the same, but your key responsibilities will include:
- Customer Sales & Profit
- Oversee the overall OMNI customer experience in your store, ensuring compliance with global visual and commercial standards.
- Project a positive image of yourself and the H&M brand in all customer interactions.
- Identify and capitalize on your department's strengths while seeking commercial opportunities.
- Set and analyze sales and budget targets, developing plans to enhance performance.
- Ensure outstanding customer service across all areas of the store, empowering your team to actively promote and sell products.
- Encourage your team’s engagement with our Customer Loyalty App (Hello Member) and promote sustainability initiatives in-store.
- Manage your department efficiently with a focus on cost-effectiveness.
- Maintain proper procedures in fitting rooms and at checkout, including transactions, returns, and exchanges.
- Ensure all administrative processes for people and operations are conducted accurately.
- Fashion & Trend Awareness
- Stay updated on the latest fashion trends, styles, brands, competitors, and influencers.
- Empower your team to share product knowledge and fashion insights during customer interactions.
- Team & Development
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and skill development for your in-store team.
- Conduct performance evaluations and succession planning to align with business and team needs.
- Share your knowledge and skills with your team to foster growth.
- Collaborate with the in-store Visual Merchandiser team on planning and execution.
- Encourage a culture of feedback among colleagues to promote learning and development.
- Oversee team scheduling and planning.
- Maintain regular communication with store colleagues to motivate and inspire through daily and weekly meetings.
- Ensure compliance with all procedures, routines, and legal requirements across the store.
