The Digital Compositor is responsible for assembling visual elements of a visual effects shot to ensure artistic and technical coherence. This role involves various stages of the 2D pipeline to deliver believable, polished, and photorealistic images. The position requires precision, creativity, and a strong mastery of Nuke. The artist collaborates closely with supervision, production teams, and other departments, actively contributing to the final quality of projects.
Main Responsibilities
Mastery of Craft
- Execute assigned digital compositing tasks accurately and efficiently, adhering to Rodeo FX standards.
- Create masks (rotoscoping) and implement clean plate techniques, retouching, and technical rig removal.
- Manage the entire 2D pipeline: pre-compositions, element synchronization, grain removal/addition, 2D tracking, compositing, color corrections, integration.
- Apply appropriate methods and tools based on shot requirements.
- Meet production priorities, deliverables, and deadlines.
Creative Quality
- Seamlessly and realistically integrate 2D and 3D elements.
- Maintain visual consistency of shots in line with the artistic vision of the project.
- Collaborate with the supervisor and lead to enhance the visual aspects of shots.
- Propose simple, elegant solutions to creative challenges encountered.
- Adjust compositions to maximize visual impact.
Technical Quality
- Deliver clean, optimized, and technically robust shots.
- Identify and resolve technical issues independently.
- Notify relevant departments of upstream problems.
- Quickly apply feedback received.
- Conduct rigorous quality control before submission.
Communication
- Communicate clearly and regularly with production and the supervision team.
- Share useful information to ensure smooth project progression.
- Actively participate in daily reviews and follow-up meetings.
- Maintain a constructive and calm demeanor, even under pressure.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues and other departments.
