As a Digital Legal Counsel at Avery Dennison, you will play a pivotal role in providing expert legal guidance on digital transformation, software, and technology issues that are essential to our innovative customer-facing solutions. This position is integral to the ongoing digitalization efforts across our operations and those of our clients. You will collaborate closely with our IT and Technology teams, overseeing software and service agreements while shaping strategies around data privacy, usage rights, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity. As a key legal partner to our global business, you will address a variety of legal challenges ranging from routine inquiries to complex international projects, directly reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel for EMENA and Global Digital.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technology Transactions: Review, draft, and negotiate a diverse array of agreements including SaaS, hardware purchases, AI procurement, and professional services, along with collaboration agreements and joint development ventures.
- Strategic Advisory: Serve as a vital member of commercial teams, delivering high-quality legal services for multi-jurisdictional transactions, litigation resolutions, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Legal Infrastructure: Create and refine global templates (e.g., T&Cs, SaaS agreements, SLAs, AI terms, API licenses, and E-commerce terms) while developing guidance tools for challenges like liability limitations and data use rights.
- Digital Intelligence: Stay updated on legislative changes in the digital landscape and manage relationships with specialized external counsel for specific projects and litigation.
- Governance & Training: Enhance the legal and business competencies of teams through tailored training on digital topics, partnering with our Compliance team for sessions on our code of conduct and overarching values.
- Work Arrangement: This professional role is based in Oegstgeest and requires occasional international travel (approximately 10%).
