Role Overview
We are seeking a dynamic Director of Engineering to spearhead and expand our engineering team as we innovate and develop next-generation AI products for healthcare. This role is both strategic and hands-on, focusing on technical leadership, exemplary execution, and the development of robust engineering teams aligned with Steer Health’s vision and objectives.
As the Director of Engineering, you will collaborate closely with the CEO and leadership teams in Product and GTM, taking ownership of the engineering roadmap, project delivery, and the technical standards across our platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the execution of engineering projects from conception to production deployment
- Lead, mentor, and cultivate high-performing engineering teams
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, and GTM to ensure alignment of technology with business goals
- Uphold stringent standards for quality, performance, security, scalability, and compliance
- Enhance engineering processes, tooling, and culture to foster rapid growth
Leadership & Strategy
- Guide, coach, and expand teams across backend, frontend, data, platform, and infrastructure
- Transform product strategies into actionable technical plans, milestones, and success metrics
- Establish engineering best practices, accountability, and operational excellence
- Work closely with executive leadership on priorities, risks, and long-term vision
- Own the architecture, delivery, and evolution of Steer Health’s AI-driven platforms
- Ensure systems are scalable, secure, reliable, and compliant (including SOC 2 standards)
- Promote modern engineering practices such as CI/CD, automated testing, code reviews, and observability
- Provide technical insights on design decisions, trade-offs, and system integrations
Team Development
- Recruit, retain, and nurture top engineering talent
- Define clear growth paths, performance evaluation, and mentorship frameworks
- Promote an inclusive, collaborative, and high-trust engineering culture
Collaboration
- Partner with Product, Design, GTM, Customer Success, and Product Marketing teams
- Communicate technical plans, dependencies, and risks effectively to stakeholders
