The Director of Executive Office Operations & Executive Assistant to the CEO (DEO & EA) at KIPP NYC is an essential figure within the Executive Office, delivering high-level strategic, operational, and administrative support to the Chief Executive Officer, Chief of Staff, and the broader Senior Leadership Team. This role transcends that of a traditional executive assistant; the DEO & EA acts as a strategic gateway, aligning time, external relationships, and priorities with the mission of KIPP NYC.
The DEO & EA possesses a deep understanding of the organization’s strategic objectives, exercising sound judgment to anticipate needs, manage complex schedules, streamline communication, and facilitate efficient executive operations. This individual is a trusted partner who demonstrates discretion, clarity, and strategic insight in all interactions, effectively managing the flow of information within the Executive Office while fostering a culture of responsiveness, alignment, and professionalism.

Reporting Structure & Location
The DEO & EA reports directly to the Chief of Staff of KIPP NYC and is part of a high-performing Executive Office team tasked with driving organization-wide strategy, alignment, and special projects. This team ensures that the CEO and Senior Leadership Team operate effectively at scale, executing priorities with clarity and intention. The DEO & EA will also supervise an Office Manager, collectively ensuring that KIPP NYC’s central office exemplifies the excellence and high standards of our schools.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Overseeing the CEO’s and Executive Office’s time management through strategic calendar oversight informed by organizational priorities and stakeholder dynamics, ensuring focus on impactful work.
- Functioning as a strategic access point for scheduling, proactively anticipating conflicts, decision points, and follow-up needs while evaluating urgency and relevance as priorities evolve.
- Managing executive communications with discernment, ensuring that critical issues are addressed promptly while maintaining professionalism and responsiveness.
- Collaborating with Executive Office colleagues to plan and execute leadership meetings, retreats, board and committee gatherings, and special initiatives, ensuring strong coordination and judgment across functions.
