About the Role
To fulfill our ambitious goal of serving 80,000-100,000 Fellows over the next decade, Braven is seeking a Director of External Affairs for the NYC region. This position is a critical leadership role within our New York regional team, focused on enhancing Braven's brand, fostering philanthropic and employer partnerships, supporting volunteer recruitment, and engaging with our New York City Board. Reporting directly to the Executive Director of New York, the Director will integrate strategic planning, relationship-building, and operational leadership to drive regional growth and impact.
What You’ll Do
Development & Strategic Leadership (45%)
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and the central development team to formulate and implement the regional strategy, encompassing revenue targets, growth initiatives, and brand representation.
- Monitor progress toward revenue goals and pipeline development; devise and manage quarterly action plans, making adjustments as needed based on results.
- Manage a portfolio of philanthropic relationships, overseeing cultivation, stewardship, meeting preparation, and follow-ups.
- Partner with the Executive Director to strategically nurture key relationships, handle meeting preparation and follow-ups, collaborate with the development team to identify and cultivate new prospects, and devise tailored cultivation plans for priority relationships.
- Review grant applications and reports, ensuring timely, high-quality submissions in collaboration with the central development team.
- Attend local events to enhance Braven’s visibility and networks.
- Stay informed about developments in the New York region’s higher education partnership expansion.
Employer Partnerships & Volunteer Recruitment (25%)
- Work with the Executive Director to design and implement the Employer Partnership strategy for the NYC region, focusing on revenue generation, volunteer involvement, and program opportunities: identifying prospects, building pipelines, and creating engagement initiatives.
