About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced Director of Government Affairs based in Germany who is adept at navigating the intricacies of the German policy landscape, legislative frameworks, and budgetary processes. This position will facilitate national security and civil government interactions, driving significant opportunities for Planet.
The Director will implement Planet’s government affairs strategy across German federal institutions and key European stakeholders, shaping engagement and identifying political risks and opportunities to ensure cohesive positioning for Planet. You will work closely with Planet’s leadership and relevant program owners to define strategic positions, escalation decisions, and external commitments. Please note that this role does not carry independent commercial or program accountability.
Your responsibilities will include direct engagement with Members of the Bundestag, the Chancellor’s office, Federal Ministers, and influential policy shapers nationwide. You will represent Planet at conferences, symposia, and relevant meetings, fostering relationships with key stakeholders and government officials. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the German Federal Government's complex dynamics, particularly with the Bundestag and relevant Federal ministries, such as the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space. Experience in these institutions and a comprehensive understanding of their processes will be crucial, alongside a keen awareness of how Planet’s unique capabilities can be leveraged for effective engagement.
