Turner & Townsend is seeking a highly skilled Director of Health & Safety to join our Birmingham office. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in delivering health and safety consultancy, Principal Designer, and CDM advisory services across a diverse array of projects.
As the Director, you will play a crucial role in providing health and safety consultancy services to both existing and prospective clients, thereby contributing significantly to our business unit's revenue generation efforts.
You will demonstrate a proven ability to drive business development, operate independently, and lead teams effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver expert advice and guidance on construction and design health and safety matters to colleagues and clients.
- Maintain high standards in the Principal Designer role on suitable sites, facilitate design team meetings, assist clients in developing health and safety arrangements and project briefs, and conduct workshops and seminars on client responsibilities.
- Provide counsel on CDM Regulations and pertinent health and safety requirements for construction projects.
- Carry out site inspections to evaluate various health and safety aspects, assess performance, and identify necessary compliance actions.
- Audit client supply chains to ensure compliance with Principal Contractor and/or Principal Designer obligations.
- Evaluate client management systems to confirm adherence to CDM 2015 and effective design and construction management practices.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with industry clients, stakeholders, and partners.
- Conduct health and safety training sessions for clients, project teams, and internal audiences.
- Perform health and safety audits of client and supply chain safety management systems, documenting successful implementation.
- Support the development of further health and safety or CDM opportunities via technical articles, speaking engagements, and bid assistance.
