ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN FINANCE BOARD
The Campaign Finance Board (CFB) is a nonpartisan and independent agency in New York City dedicated to enhancing the democratic process by empowering residents to actively participate in elections. Our mission is to foster an open, transparent, and equitable local democracy by removing obstacles to civic involvement.
We facilitate voter engagement through initiatives like NYC Votes, which provides reliable election information and helps New Yorkers plan their voting process. Our citywide Voter Guide ensures that voters receive essential information about candidates directly, while our public matching funds program enables everyday citizens to support and run for office, promoting fairness in campaign financing. By increasing transparency in how candidates fundraise and spend, we aim to build trust in local governance.
We believe that a more engaged electorate leads to representatives who genuinely reflect the communities they serve, fostering accountability and trust in our democracy.
