About the Role
The Director of Senior School is a pivotal member of the School Management Team, serving as the chief educational leader for the secondary phase. This role encompasses both strategic and operational leadership across academics, pastoral care, student wellbeing, and staff development. Collaborating closely with the Head Master, Deputy Heads, and Heads of Department, the Director ensures excellence in teaching and learning, strong examination outcomes, and a positive school culture. The Director guarantees continuity and progression across year groups, supports pathways for university preparation, and maintains high standards of safeguarding, behavior, and professional conduct.
- Guide the Senior School in academic, pastoral, and operational domains; establish vision, targets, routines, and year-level priorities.
- Enhance teaching and learning quality, ensuring consistent standards across departments through monitoring, coaching, and line management.
- Oversee curriculum implementation (including international programs and relevant Chinese curriculum elements), assessment policies, and reporting cycles.
- Monitor student progress and outcomes through data; implement interventions to elevate attainment and support high performance.
- Ensure robust exam readiness and execution (IGCSE/A Level or equivalent), including internal moderation and compliance processes.
- Lead university preparation pathways in collaboration with relevant teams, facilitating student guidance and post-16 readiness.
- Advocate for safeguarding, student wellbeing, and positive behavior; ensure policies are effectively communicated and applied consistently.
- Develop staff through appraisal, professional development, recruitment support, and onboarding of new educators.
- Enhance student engagement via enrichment activities, competitions, trips, and broader school life.
- Foster strong parent communication and community relationships; represent the Senior School at key events (open days, information sessions).
- Collaborate closely with boarding leads (if applicable) to ensure a safe, compliant, and supportive Senior School environment.
