About the job
About Nomic
At Nomic, we specialize in developing domain-specific AI agents tailored for the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) sectors. Our solutions streamline various tasks including drawing reviews, takeoffs, code compliance, RFIs, submittals, specifications, quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC), coordination, and project documentation.
We aim to create AI systems that truly represent the complexities and realities of AEC workflows, ensuring they are grounded in actual practices and constraints.
About the Role
We are excited to introduce our Domain Experts in Residence (DEIR) program, designed to integrate seasoned AEC professionals into the design, evaluation, and deployment of our AI agents and workflows.
Unlike conventional advisory roles, as a Domain Expert in Residence, you will actively engage in defining authentic AEC tasks, constructing datasets, and establishing evaluation criteria that gauge the performance of our agents throughout the project lifecycle.
This position is perfect for practitioners eager to influence the future of the tools utilized in their profession.
What You’ll Do
Define authentic AEC task specifications for AI agents (e.g., drawing reviews, code compliance, RFIs, submittals, specification review, QA/QC, coordination).
Create and label high-quality datasets derived from real project documents (including drawings, specifications, RFIs, and submittals).
Develop evaluation rubrics for agent outputs (considering severity, discipline, correctness, and usefulness).
Collaborate in designing standard workflows that are delivered to clients.
Test agents against real-world project scenarios and typical failure modes.
Work closely with product, machine learning, and engineering teams to translate domain practices into scalable AI systems.
Who You Are
You possess over 6 years of professional experience in areas such as:
Architecture
Structural Engineering
MEP Engineering
Construction / Project Management
QA/QC or Code Compliance
In-depth understanding of actual AEC workflows and project deliverables.
Ability to articulate practical work processes effectively.
A keen interest in AI tools and automation (machine learning experience is not required).
