What Are Mortgage Field Service Contractors Responsible For?
Mortgage companies and banks are legally obligated to assess and document the occupancy status and physical condition of mortgaged properties. To fulfill this requirement, they engage Property Inspectors who visit the locations to capture specific photographs and determine whether the properties are occupied or vacant. The Property Inspector then provides a detailed report on the condition of the property using a mobile application.
Responsibilities of Mortgage Field Service Inspectors Include:
- Assessing whether a property is occupied or vacant.
- Evaluating the property condition, rating it as Good, Fair, or Poor.
- Taking photographs of the property using your smartphone.
- Completing forms on your mobile device via a downloadable application.
- Answering multiple-choice questions regarding the property condition.
Requirements:
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
- Reliable transportation is essential (good gas mileage is a plus).
- A smartphone (Android or iPhone) is required.
- Access to a printer/scanner is necessary.
- A desktop/laptop or tablet is needed to print forms.
Income and Assignments:
Income varies based on location and workload. Many inspectors can handle multiple inspections per hour, and rural areas may offer higher pay per inspection on average. The quicker the inspections are completed, the more assignments are available. This role operates on a 1099 contractor basis, and no resume is required.
