About the job
We are in search of an exceptionally talented Drone Systems Specialist with extensive expertise in drone systems, drone morphology, or similar technical imaging fields. Your role will be pivotal in the creation of high-precision computer vision models. This position emphasizes meticulous interpretation, segmentation, and annotation of drone imagery, focusing on isolating structurally significant components of various unmanned aerial vehicles.
On a daily basis, you will assess a variety of drone images and adhere to stringent annotation standards to enhance model performance. A key aspect of this role is your ability to pinpoint the essential structure of a drone while omitting peripheral or transient elements. This task involves cropping out rotor blades that may introduce motion artifacts, removing drone legs or supports that do not contribute to the aerial frame, and ensuring that antennas, payloads, and unrelated external items are excluded. Your focus will be on the drone body, the primary support arms extending from the fuselage, and the electric motors positioned at the arm extremities. An important facet of this role is developing the skill to differentiate between structural and non-structural features across diverse drone designs, lighting conditions, and environments.
Successful candidates will exhibit a high degree of visual precision and the capability to maintain consistency across extensive image datasets. Experience in professional or academic settings involving drones, robotics imagery, aerial systems, or technical visual datasets is highly advantageous. Familiarity with annotation platforms, high-resolution image management, or machine learning dataset workflows is beneficial, though not mandatory. What is most critical is a rigorous attention to detail, an ability to apply abstract guidelines operationally, and the discipline to implement them consistently as edge cases arise.
If you are passionate about the challenge of converting complex visual data into structured, high-quality training datasets—and take pride in your precision, clarity, and conceptual rigor—this position offers the opportunity to influence how advanced AI interprets drone architecture.
The pay range for this position is $6 to $65 per hour, with the final rate determined based on your experience, expertise, and geographic location. As a contractor, you will need to provide a secure computer and high-speed internet; company-sponsored benefits such as health insurance and PTO do not apply.
